SI Barbados Restarts Flagship Mentorship Programme on Soroptimist Day of Action!

July 15th was a special day for SI Barbados—the Soroptimist Day of Action—and also marked the resumption of the club’s flagship mentorship programme, New Horizons, after a long hiatus.

Under the revamped programme, we will be partnering with the Probation Department to reach and mentor a whole new group of girls.

The highlight of the first session was an inspiring, pragmatic, and engaging talk by Janelle Defreitas. Defreitas shared her story of being in conflict with the law, the lessons she learned, and how she changed her behaviour for the better to create a better future for herself. She urged them to participate fully and maximise their time in the mentorship programme.
